Stephen W. Kelly, age 82, devoted husband of 57 years to Eileen (nee Brennan); beloved father to Erin and Dave Mattes, Maureen and Dave Shinnick, Dan Kelly and Mike Kelly; cherished Papa to grandchildren Kelly, Matt, Danny, Ryan, Molly, and Kaitlyn; dear brother to Bill (Nancy Lou) Kelly, the late Greg (Faye) Kelly, Mike (Donna) Kelly, and Kevin (Sharon) Kelly; devoted son of the late William H. Kelly and the late Virginia (nee McGee) Kelly; and treasured cousin, uncle, and friend. Steve grew up in Wilmette and enjoyed lifelong friendships with his classmates from St. Francis Xavier and Loyola Academy. An avid Cubs fan and crossword aficionado, Steve knew someone everywhere he went and was always welcomed with open arms. He enjoyed a long, successful career as a sales representative, where his clients became long time friends rather than customers. Steve was a coach and a fierce fan who could be seen and heard at any sporting event his children and grandchildren participated in; ‘Silent Saturdays’ never applied to him. Celebrated for his quick wit and acts of generosity, Steve will be remembered for his big, infectious laugh and the love he shared with his friends and family. Any memorial donations under his name may be made to a charity of your choice. Family will be receiving guests from 3:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday, May 9, 2025 at Glueckert Funeral Home, 1520 N Arlington Heights Rd, Arlington Heights, IL, 60004. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00 AM, Saturday, May 10, 2025 at St. James Catholic Church, 831 N Arlington Heights Rd, Arlington Heights. Interment at All Saints Cemetery, 700 N River Rd, Des Plaines, IL.
