Samuel Krauss OBITUARY

Samuel G. Krauss, Jr., age 85, passed away on April 23, 2025. He was born in St. Louis, MO ad raised in Philadelphia, PA.

Sam was the beloved husband of the late Valerie Krauss for 53 years; loving father of Samuel G. Krauss III and William G. Krauss; cherished grandfather of Nicole, Samantha, Lane, and Hazel Krauss; proud uncle of Wesley Bischel. He was preceded in death by his wife, Valerie, and his sister, Sally Bischel.

Sam graduated from Penn State University in 1962. He and Valerie founded and operated SG Krauss Co., a successful steel fabricating company that installed millions of square feet of structural steel framing throughout the Chicago area.

Sam was a man of many passions and interests. He was President of the American Subcontractors Association, volunteered at the Palm Springs Air Museum, and enjoyed car racing. After retiring, he earned his pilot’s license and flew recreationally. He was also an avid history buff, who loved learning and sharing his knowledge.

Friends and family are invited to attend a Celebration of Life Service on Saturday, May 17th at All Saints Lutheran Church; 630 S. Quentin Road, Palatine, IL 60067. Memorial Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. followed by Memorial Service at 12:00 p.m. Interment Private.
